Repair & Renovation of the Social Centre at Barsua Iron Mine Township, Tensa , Odisha

The project aimed to enhance the facility’s functionality, safety, and aesthetics, aligning with CPWD specifications and industry standards for structural and electrical renovations.

Items Supplied & Scope of Work

Civil Work

Structural Strengthening & Interior Refurbishment

  • Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) strengthening of columns, beams, and roofing.
  • Replacement of damaged windows with aluminium frames and MS grills.
  • Renovation of the badminton hall, reading room, and gym area with new vitrified flooring.
  • Reconstruction of the stage area, including changing rooms and wooden doors for improved accessibility.

Structural Strengthening & Interior Refurbishment

  • Full-scale Acrylic Emulsion Painting of the entire structure.
  • APP Roof Treatment for long-term waterproofing and seepage protection.
  • Main entrance and fencing repair, including chain-link reinforcement.
  • New drainage system & water supply pipelines for better sanitation.

Electrical Work

Complete Overhaul of Electrical Wiring & Fixtures
  • Replacement of all electrical wiring to FRLS-compliant, fire-resistant cables.
  • Installation of new LED-based floodlights (150W) in the badminton & main halls.
  • Provision of exhaust fans to improve ventilation in large halls.
  • New ceiling fans and switchboards in key utility areas.
  • All electrical work was executed in compliance with IS 732 & National Electrical Code (NEC) 2023 standards.

Plumbing & Sanitation

Renovation of Toilet & Water Supply Systems
  • Replacement of sanitary fittings with CPVC and GI piping solutions.
  • Provision of dual 1000L PVC water storage tanks for continuous supply.

  • Solution: Installed low-voltage, energy-efficient LED floodlights, concealed FRLS cabling, and RCCB-protected circuits to enhance safety and power efficiency
Waterproofing & Drainage
Issues
  • Challenge: Significant seepage from the roof and walls, causing deterioration of interiors.
  • Solution: Applied APP Membrane (3mm) for waterproofing, along with a new rainwater drainage system using PVC pipes to prevent water logging.
